REFINING

Russia’s refinery runs fell just below 5.2mb/d in June 1-26 and the lowest level since May 2022, according to a Bloomberg source.

  • Crude processing fell more than 2% below the May average as it was restricted by Ukrainian drone strikes and seasonal maintenance.
  • Ukrainian drone attacks mainly targeted smaller independent refineries in Russia’s south during June but coincided with seasonal maintenance at several other facilities.
  • Offline refining capacity is expected to fall to 1.8m metric tons in July from 4.1m metric tons in June, based on Reuters calculations from industry sources data.
  • Oil processing fell in spring 2022 with some foreign buyers reluctant to buy Russian fuel after the start of the Ukraine conflict.
