Russia's Novak Highlights His OPEC+ Comments

An Interfax report out Tuesday indicated that Russian Deputy PM Alexandrer Novak had suggested an OPEC+ production increase had potential ahead of the next meeting on June 1.

  • Later, the press service of the Russian government published a statement by Novak, emphasising discussions are not currently underway. The statement was published because the headline of the Interfax publication, according to Novak, distorted his statement.
  • “I consider it necessary to additionally note that there is no discussion of increasing production within OPEC+. As I said earlier, OPEC+ constantly monitors the market and makes decisions on necessary actions depending on its condition,” he said.
