Russian Energy Ministry Proposes Gasoline Export Ban Extension

Russia’s energy ministry has proposed a gasoline export ban extension into September and October according to RBC daily, citing a letter from the deputy minister.

  • Gasoline exports have been partially banned for 6-months from March 1 to August 31 to avoid fuel shortages and protect against Ukrainian strikes on fuel depots and refineries.
  • The restrictions were suspended in May until June 30 before being extended until the end of July.
  • Russian deputy PM Novak said on Monday that Russia may reinstate the ban from August if there are shortages.
