Russian LNG Exports Fell 6% in 2023: LSEG Data

Overall LNG exports from Russia fell 6% in 2023 to 31m tons amid planned facility repairs over the summer according to LSEG data.

  • LNG exports from Russia to Europe fell 1.9% in 2023 to 15.8m metric tons, and exports to Asia fell 11% to 14.9m tons
  • Russian LNG exports reached a record level of 3.2 tons in December with 1.9m tons from Yamal LNG.
  • The largest exports were from Novatek with 18.7m tons shipped from Yamal LNG in the Arctic and 800k tons from Kriogaz-Vysotsk on the Baltic.
  • LNG exports from Gazprom led Sakhalin-2 in the Pacific fell by 10% to 10.1m tons.
  • Gazprom LNG Portovaya exported 1.4m tons, mainly to Turkey and Greece, as well as three shipments to China, one using the Northern Sea Route.
