Russian Officials Remain Quiet on Ryazan Refinery Attack

REFINING

There has been no official Russian confirmation yet about the Ukrainian drone strike on the Ryazan refinery early on Wednesday that resulted in a fire.

  • It was targeted just weeks after recovering from the prior attack.
  • A March 13 attack damaged two of its four crude distillation units, together accounting for 70% of capacity.
  • The previous repairs were quicker than general analyst expectations.
  • Russia has so far showed resilience towards its refining capacity being attacked, which has seen further events have little impact on pricing.
  • The Moscow Times reported further attempted Ukraine drone attacks Thursday.
  • Russia’s Defense Ministry said Thursday that its air defense forces had either destroyed or intercepted 12 Ukrainian drones over the Bryansk, Kursk, Belgorod, Rostov, and Krasnodar regions. It did not mention the attacks in the Oryol and Smolensk regions.
