Russia’s Natural Gas Exports to Europe Plunged 56% YoY in 2023

Russian natural gas pipeline exports to Europe fell by 55.6% on the year to 28.3bcm in 2023, Reuters calculations based on Entsog and Gazprom data showed.

  • Daily natural gas flows from Russia to Europe averaged 77.6mcm last year, down from 174.8mcm in 2022.
  • Russia has been exporting more natural gas to China instead. Gas exports to China were expected to hit 22bcm in 2023 and 30bcm in 2024, Russia’s energy minister Nikolai Shulginov said last week.
