RWE Advances Renewable Generation Capacity

Germany’s RWE expanded its renewables generation capacity to 17.627GW as of the end of the first quarter of this year, up from 16.464GW a year earlier, with the majority of the increase attributed to new onshore wind and solar PV capacity, the utility said in its Q1 earnings call.

  • The utility expanded its onshore wind capacity in Europe to 3.64GW as of Q1 2024, up from 3.55GW a year earlier.
  • Solar PV capacity in Europe rose to 689MW as of Q1 2024, up from 500MW the year before.
  • Globally, RWE is currently constructing 8.3GW of new renewable capacity.
