SAGBs Firm Slightly at the Open, Upside Momentum Showing Signs of Slowing

SOUTH AFRICA
  • SAGBs trade little changed to marginally firmer around the open, having maintained Monday's bear steepening momentum through into Tuesday's session.
  • 10-30Y yields lifted +2.3-5.5bp, broadly in line with weaker EM FI risk sentiment with weakness still concentrated in 10Y yields, while 30Y seemed more resilient.
  • Attention will be on whether the 10Y makes a move higher towards the 10.00 handle or falls towards key support at 9.77.
  • Interestingly, shorter-term timeframes show fading upside momentum in the RSI with some negative divergence emerging.
