Serbia Looks To Diversify Gas Imports Through LNG Terminal

Serbia is planning to further diversify its natural gas imports, including through an LNG terminal at Montenegro’s port of Bar, President Aleksandar Vucic said.

  • Serbia is ready to extend its pipeline network with a capacity of 2.7mcm/d to the Montenegrin border to ensure future imports, he said.
  • Montenegro has signed an agreement to develop the LNG terminal at the port of Bar and the new government, to be formed after recent elections, will work on the project.
  • Serbia has been considering building more gas pipelines with nearby countries to reduce the dependence on Russian flows.
  • The country is building an interconnector with Bulgaria, that is scheduled to be completed next year. The country also looks to add a link to North Macedonia and potentially Albania, the Energy Minister, Dubravka Djedovic, said last year.
