Slow Increase in US Production as Rig Counts Rise

More natural gas drilling rigs are now operating in the US than before the covid pandemic according to the EIA.

  • They expect a production increase to follow the rise in drilling. EIA forecast US dry natural gas production to gradually increase from 97.6bcf/d in Aug 2022 to an average of 100.5 Bcf/d in Dec 2023.
  • Production has been increasing slower that the price rise might suggest with drillers maintaining capital discipline to try to repay debt and improve returns to shareholders.
