South Korea's KOMIPO Cancels LNG Terminal Build

South Korea’s Korea Midland Power (KOMIPO) has cancelled its plans to build an LNG import terminal on the western coast of the country citing high costs and falling demand.

  • KOMIPO had decided to build the Boryeong LNG terminal in 2022.
  • South Korea is the worlds third largest LNG consumer but nuclear power is expected to displace gas usage from this year.
