Spanish Gas Demand Fell 10.7% YoY in 2023

Spanish natural gas demand was set to end the year 2023 at 325.4WTh, 10.7% down on the year, largely due to a decline gas use for power generation, Enagas said last week.

  • Demand from households, industry and CHP plants was seen at 229.9TWh last year, up from 226.4TWh in 2022, due to an increase in industrial demand.
  • Industrial gas demand rose by 3.9% year on year to 169.8TWh last year.
  • The decline in overall demand was driven by gas use for power generation that stood 30.8% below 2022 levels at 95.6TWh last year.
