Spanish Hydro Stocks Edged Down to 37% of Capacity

Spain’s hydropower reserves edged down by 0.1% last week to 37% of total capacity, or 20,734hm³, as of 12 September, data from the Spanish Ecological Transition and Demographics Ministry showed.

  • Stocks slowed the weekly decline from 0.6% the week prior.
  • The deficit to the 10-year median narrowed to 12.83%, down from a deficit of 15.5% the week prior, according to Bloomberg data.
  • Hydropower output in Spain increased by 4% week on week to 322.7GWh, Ministry data showed.
  • Natural gas demand in Spain last week rose by 1.71GW to 7.93GW, partly offsetting lower wind output that declined by 2.43GW on the week to 4.57GW, Entso-E data show.
