Spread Between Parallel And Official Rates Narrowest Since September

  • The Argentinian Peso is getting a new lease of life on the parallel exchange rate market, known locally as the blue-chip swap, amid government negotiations for the country’s 22nd program with the IMF.
  • The currency briefly broke through the 200 pesos to the dollar barrier Tuesday on the prospect of congress signing off on the accord in the next few weeks. The rally has pushed the gap between the parallel and official rates to the narrowest since September. (BBG)
