Srettha On Track To Become Prime Minister After Securing Over 60 Senatorial Votes

Pheu Thai Party (PTP) candidate Srettha Thavisin is on track to be elected Thai Prime Minister after more than 60 junta-appointed Senators voted in favour of his candidacy. The eleven-party coalition led by the PTP has 314 MPs (an possibly up to three MP votes from outside of the coalition), which means that only a massive defection from other coalition MPs could kill Srettha's PM bid at this point.

  • When this is being typed, Srettha has 145 MP votes and 72 senatorial votes, which together gives 217 votes in favour of his candidacy.
