Super Long Auction Today

SOUTH KOREA

The South Korea MOF will today auction KRW 750bn of 50-year bonds, results expected after 0230GMT/1030KST.

  • The previous 50-year auction fell on December 11 2020, the sale drew an average yield of 1.75% and was covered 1.7x.
  • Demand could suffer at today's auction given some concern around South Korea's plans for an extra budget to finance cash handouts to citizens and SME's affected by coronavirus. Participants are concerned that extra issuance could be announced, after already being increased in 2021, without accompanying measures from the BoK to support the market.
