Sweden Denies 700MW Swedish-German Power Link

The Swedish government has not approved the 700MW Hansa PowerBridge line between Sweden-Germany due to issues with the German power market providing correct price signals to the market actors, the Swedish government said today.

  • The government also based its decision on the fact that Germany is not divided into separate bidding areas – which leads to significant bottlenecks.
  • The connection would have been between Sweden's SE4 bidding zone – in southern Sweden – and Germany.
