Sweden’s TSO Still Sees Benefit in Power Link to Germany

TSO Svenska Kraftnät said on Wednesday it still sees great benefits from a power interconnector with Germany and may consider a new power link if conditions change in the future, after the Hansa PowerBridge project has been rejected.

  • “Socioeconomically, Svenska kraftnät sees great benefits from a new electricity connection to Germany in the future”, it said.
  • On 13 June, the Swedish government rejected the TSO’s application for a concession for the interconnector with Germany, partly due to a potential price increase, especially in southern Sweden, which resulted in the TSO ending the project.
