US TSYS: T-Notes bid from the off this week, with TYU9 last trading 0-05+ higher
at 126-30. To recap, The weekend saw U.S. President Trump keep up the combative
rhetoric via Twitter. The pick of the tweets was probably "When you are the
"Piggy Bank" Nation that foreign countries have been robbing and deceiving for
years, the word TARIFF is a beautiful word indeed! Others must treat the United
States fairly and with respect - We are no longer the "fools" of the past!" In
other tweets he continued to toe a hard-line on Mexico & China. Also, China
released a White Paper on trade negotiations with the U.S. over the weekend. In
my opinion the White Paper showed that little has changed with China keeping up
the combative tone that it has adopted in recent weeks. China continues to blame
the U.S. for the breakdown in the trade talks, while China demanded the respect
of the U.S. and reiterated its pre-requisites for any trade deal.
- Friday saw Barclays change their Fed call, they now look for 3 rate cuts in
'19, starting in Sep, while JPM look for 2 cuts in '19, one in Sep & one in Dec.
- Focus in Asia-Pacific hours will fall on comments from Fed's Daly & Chinese
Caixin Manufacturing PMI data.
