Taking US-China Risk In Stride

Global stocks have taken the latest US-China simmering tensions in stride, with the PBOC's net liquidity injection announcement helping underpin risk appetite.

  • Asian stocks closed mixed, with Japan's NIKKEI down 192.61 pts or -0.83% at 23096.75 and the TOPIX down 13.56 pts or -0.84% at 1609.82. China's SHANGHAI closed up 78.702 pts or +2.34% at 3438.801 and the HANG SENG ended pts higher or at 25347.34
  • European stocks are flat-to-higher, with the German Dax up 31.24 pts or +0.24% at 12933.78, FTSE 100 up 10.92 pts or +0.18% at 6099.55, CAC 40 down 0.67 pts or -0.01% at 4961.25 and Euro Stoxx 50 up 4.27 pts or +0.13% at 3309.72.
  • U.S. futures are higher, with the Dow Jones mini up 99 pts or +0.36% at 27892, S&P 500 mini up 12.75 pts or +0.38% at 3374.25, NASDAQ mini up 65 pts or +0.58% at 11198.75.
