Talks to Resume Lukoil Flows on Druzhba Appear Unlikely

Russian spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said there was no scope for talks with Ukraine over stopped pipeline transit of oil impacting Slovakia and Hungary.

  • It came as Ukraine enforced sanctions against Russia’s Lukoil last month, halting flows of its oil via Druzhba to the countries last month. Slovakia was reported to be receiving Russian oil via other suppliers.
  • "We have no dialogue here. Therefore, indeed, the situation is quite a crisis for our (oil) recipients, but it does not depend on us," Peskov said.
  • Flows to Slovakia via the Druzhba pipeline have been sharply lower recently according to Reuters sources which added that those to the Czech Republic are normal and for Hungary slightly below planned levels.
