STOCKS: The major Asia-Pacific equity markets trade mixed, with Chinese
benchmark indices underperforming in spite of a fresh round of MLF lending from
the PBoC & the PBoC pledging to offer timely support to smaller financial
institutions when needed. N.B. China & Hong Kong will observe market holidays on
Friday.
- U.S. equity index futures recovered from the early losses suffered on the back
of the impasse in the U.S.-Mexico trade/immigration talks, as they drew some
solace from the news that the talks will continue tomorrow & U.S. President
Trump pointing to some progress (albeit nowhere near enough).
- Nikkei 225 +0.3%, Hang Seng +0.2%, CSI 300 -0.4%, ASX 200 +0.5%
- S&P 500 futures unch., DJIA futures +18, NASDAQ 100 futures +6.
