EQUITIES: The prospect of deepening Sino-U.S. tension weighed on the major
Asia-Pac equity indices on Thursday, even on the back of a positive lead from
Wall St.
- Stronger than expected Chines GDP data did little for broader risk sentiment,
with the more timely retail sales print coming in on the softer side, leaving
questions re: the health of the Chinese consumer in place.
- U.S. earnings season continues on Thursday, with healthcare and financials at
the fore.
- Nikkei 225 -0.7%, Hang Seng -1.2%, CSI 300 -1.6%, ASX 200 -0.8%.
- S&P 500 futures -14, DJIA futures -103, NASDAQ 100 futures -4.
