CHINA PRESS: The U.S. is pulling back from its hardline trade stance on China
because it is increasingly realising that a trade war could only lead to a
lose-lose situation, said Cui Tiankai, Chinese ambassador to the U.S., in an
interview with Securities Daily.
  - The U.S. is now only caring for itself, and forgot lessons it learned after
the 2008 financial crisis after which it strengthened economic coordination with
other countries in order to recover from the event, Cui noted.
  - The main problem stems from the fact that the U.S. wants more benefits from
its trade with China, Cui said. However, while a trade war will only make both
sides lose their share of the 'trade' pie, deepening cooperation could increase
their trade volume and benefit both nations, argued Cui.
  - China hopes to start a second round of comprehensive dialogues with the U.S.
"when conditions are ready," Cui said.
