AUSTRALIA
AUSTRALIA: There are suggestions in the local press that Prime Minister Morrison
will announce changes to the JobKeeper and JobSeeker schemes today. The schemes
will seemingly be extended beyond their original September deadline, although
income support will likely be set at a lower rate, with greater stringency. It
looks like JobKeeper will be spread across 2 payment tiers to more closely
reflect incomes pre-COVID. Also, reports suggest that firms will have to submit
turnover to continue to qualify for support. JobSeeker's $550/fortnightly
supplement is set to be trimmed, although there is a lack of specifics
surrounding that matter.
