STIR FUTURES: Today has been fairly quiet in STIR markets, particularly relative
to the busy days we have seen so far in 2019!
- The short sterling strip has moved slightly higher this morning with the H9
and M9 contracts both 1 tick higher and other White, Red and Green contracts
2-2.5 ticks higher with Blues 3-3.5 ticks higher. Brexit talk has come back to
the fore with the House of Commons coming back from recess and media reports
have focused on a letter signed by 200 MPs with cross party support which states
that they will not let the UK exit the EU with no deal. Despite Labour's pleas
it appears as though there will be no Brexit debate until Wednesday and the BBC
have reported that the vote on the deal will take place on Jan 15.
- Euribor futures are more mixed on the day with Whites generally 0.5 ticks
higher, Reds and Greens 0.5-1 tick lower and Blues largely unchanged.
