Trafigura Nears Deal To Buy Italy’s ISAB Refinery

Trafigura is nearing the acquisition of the Lukoil-owned ISAB refinery in Italy, sources told Bloomberg.

  • The deal could be concluded as soon as Monday, sources said.
  • In recent weeks, Trafigura, Crossbridge, Vitol and a group of investors led by businessman Ghanim Bin Saad Al-Saad have expressed interest in taking over the refinery.
  • Lukoil has initially hoped to sell the refinery by the end of last year. The plant has been put under trusteeship by the Italian government, after it was under threat due to the European embargo on Russian seaborne oil that came into effect on 5 Dec.
