Treasuries are trading a little stronger early Friday, with equities taking a
breather and inflation data eyed later.
- Mar 19 T-Note futures up 5.5/32 at 121-285, having traded in a range of
121-195 to 121-305 thus far Friday.
- Curve bull steepening: 2-Yr yield is down 3.5bps at 2.5408%, 5-Yr down 3.5bps
at 2.5322%, 10-Yr down 3.3bps at 2.7096%, and 30-Yr down 2.1bps at 3.0418%.
- Curve had bear steepened Thurs following weak 30-yr Tsy auction; comments from
Powell and Clarida largely in line with expectations though continued the
overall dovish tone being set by the FOMC.
- Apart from Fedspeak, politics a continuing theme, with elevated expectations
of President Trump declaring a state of emergency re border wall.
- Reports suggest trade talks w China advancing, with Treas Sec Mnuchin eyeing
plans for China's top trade envoy Liu He to travel to the US in coming weeks.
- Dec CPI the day`s data highlight at 0830ET.
