US TSYS: Tsys trade just off Friday's closing levels, failing to get a boost
from the break down of talks over the weekend to avert a new government shutdown
over funding for border-security funding.
- Friday's tsy gains contrasted with the recovery in equity markets with yields
shrugging off the strong strong close in stocks as breakevens edged lower,
decoupling from their recent strong correlation with stocks.
-Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer and Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin
are leading a group of administration officials headed to Beijing, with
expectations of a deal muted. Axios has reported that Trump's advisors have
discussed holding a March summit with Xi.
-It is a very quiet day on the data and Fedspeak front with focus likely to
remain on the two main issues of the US government shutdown and trade talks with
China.
