Turkey Set to Mandate Licenses for Crypto Trading Platforms

  • Turkey is finalising its crypto asset regulations and is set to oversee licensed trading platforms under the Capital Markets Board, Anadolu Agency cite Finance Minister Simsek as saying. The regulation will not focus on tax at this stage and the tax issue will be studied separately, Simsek said, adding that the government has adopted a policy of not interfering with cryptoassets to be listed on platforms.
  • Turkey's seasonally and calendar adjusted industrial production fell 1.4% m/m in November versus a revised -0.3% in October, according to the Turkish Statistical Institute. Year-on-year, industrial production rose 0.2% compared to +1.3% in October.
  • Meanwhile, the adjusted unemployment rate rose to 9% in November from a multi-year low of 8.6% in October. The number of jobless rose by 115K from the previous month to 3.12m.
  • There are no economic releases left on the docket for today. Retail Sales and Current Account data for November will cross on Friday.
