TURKEY: Simsek Says Treasury Raised $1.6bn Cash in Eurobond Sale

Simsek has posted on X following the $3.5bn sale of 10-year USD bonds:

  • "We have completed the issuance of 10-year US dollar denominated bonds worth $3.5 billion. The additional premium spread over the US Treasury bonds of similar maturity fell below 300 basis points for the first time since February 2020."
  • "While we provided cash financing of 1.6 billion dollars with the issuance, we also carried out liability management transactions for the first time in a long time. In this context, approximately 1.9 billion dollars of principal repayment that was to be made by the end of 2025 was postponed to 2035."
