TURKEY: Turkey, Chery Investment Talks in Final Steps

 “Investment talks between Turkey and Chinese automaker Chery have reached final steps,” Industry Minister Mehmet Fatih Kacir said in an interview with Anadolu Agency.

  • The comments confirm reports from Reuters earlier this morning, which stated that "Turkey is in the final stages of talks on a possible investment by Chinese car maker Chery as Ankara seeks to deepen its ties with Chinese car makers after reaching an investment deal with China's BYD earlier this year."
  • Separately, the minister said Chinese automaker BYD’s production in Turkey to start in 2026.
  • Another minister said Turkey is open to cooperation for production of its domestic EV TOGG.
