Defence Ministers from the U.S. and Israel are set to discuss a military drill preparing their troops for a scenario to destroy Iran's nuclear facilities in case diplomatic efforts fail and both nations' leaders request a strike, Reuters reports. An unnamed senior U.S. official told the news agency that visiting Israeli Defence Minister Benny Gantz will discuss the matter with his U.S. counterpart today. The official reportedly noted that "Iran's nuclear programme is advancing to a point beyond which it has any conventional rationale," while expressing hope for further negotiations.
- Note that Iran's nuclear talks with major world powers reconvene in Vienna today. Tehran's Deputy Foreign Minister Ali Bagheri Kani spoke with European envoy Mora and paid a visit to Moscow earlier this week to prepare the ground for talks.
