The second day of the United Nations General Assembly's general debate plenary gets underway at 0900ET/1400BST/1500CET with a number of notable speakers on the schedule. The full speakers list for 25 September can be found here.
- As part of a multi-day trip to the US that will include meetings with US President Joe Biden at the White House, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy will address the plenary at around 0945ET. Comes after he called on countries to 'force' Russia towards peace when speaking to the Security Council on 24 Sep.
- In the final speech of the morning session, French President Emmanuel Macron will deliver his address at around 1330ET (1830CET, 1930CET). On 24 Sep, Macron met with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian on the sidelines of the UNGA, pressing the Iranian leader for a de-escalation in Lebanon. As the former colonial power, France often plays a notable diplomatic role during periods of conflict or instability in Lebanon.
