- The Eurozone unemployment (UE) rate edged up to 7.4% in May, below
expectations for an increase to 7.7%.
- May's increase marks the second successive uptick in the jobless rate.
- Among the member states, the lowest rates were observed in the Netherlands
(3.6%) and Germany (3.9%), while the highest rate was observed in Spain (14.5%)
- Eurostat noted that a significant amount of people stopped looking for work
during the Covid-19 crisis for several reasons, leading to discrepancies in the
number of registered unemployed and those measured unemployed according to the
ILO definition.
