Upcoming Asian Refinery Maintenance

Asia will see capacity go offline for planned maintenance in China, India, and Japan over the next four weeks.

  • In China, PetroChina’s Sichuan Refinery is due to begin a full shutdown for planned maintenance Sep.15, taking 200k b/d offline. Maintenance is due to restart Nov. 19.
  • In India, Bharat Petroleum’s BPCL Mumbai Refinery will shut from Sep. 21 to Oct. 21, taking half of the 240k b/d capacity offline for maintenance, according to Reuters and Bloomberg.
  • During this period, the crude distillation unit number four, fluid catalytic cracking unit, and gasoline hydro treatment units will be shut at the Mumbai refinery.
  • In Japan, maintenance at the 177k b/d Chiba refinery will shut the 75k b/d No.1 crude distillation unit (CDU) according to Reuters. Maintenance is expected to last from Oct. 10 to Nov. 14.
