UPDATE - Bnetza Awarded 2.5GW of German Offshore Capacity in Tender

RENEWABLES

Germany awarded 2.5GW of new offshore wind capacity in the latest tender round from 1 June, Bnetza data showed.

  • Bnetza awarded Offshore Wind One GmbH – a consortium including TotalEnergies and RWE - at a price of €1.305mn/MW for the 1.5GW N-11.2 site.
  • RWE said today the consortium after prices for the auction became too high.
  • “We can confirm that we are part of a bidding consortium [Offshore Wind One GmbH], which we are now leaving at short notice,” a spokesperson told Bloomberg.
  • “TotalEnergies will realize the project alone. The bid amounts for the two areas are not compatible with our criteria for economic investments,” the spokesperson added.
  • Germany also awarded EnbW with €1.065mn/MW for the 1GW N-12.3 site.
  • The tender had to be repeated as a dynamic tender after a total of 16 bids for both areas were submitted at zero.
  • Both sites are scheduled to be operational in 2031, Bnetza said.
