URE to Start Third CHP Auction in September

Polish energy regulator URE will launch its third CHP auction this year between 16-18 September, with around PLN3.7bn (€0.87mn) on offer, it said.

  • New and significantly modernized CHP units with a capacity of 1-50MW may participate in the auction.
  • The reference price for new gas-fired CHP has been set at PLN324.42/MWh – PLN66.41/MWh lower than in 2023.
  • The regulator will also launch an auction between 24-28 September for an individual high efficient CHP premium, with 72TWh, or PLN17.3bn set as the maximum coverage and value.
  • URE will launch its final fourth CHP auction towards the end of the 4Q24.
