US Crude Oil Output Fell 762kbpd MoM in January

US crude oil production in January stood at 12.533mbpd, down by 762kbpd on the month and below the EIA STEO forecast, data from the EIA Petroleum Report showed.

  • Production was down the most in Texas falling 288kbpd month on month, followed by North Dakota with a monthly decline of 162kbpd and New Mexico with 108kbpd less output, the data showed. This was due to the extreme freeze offs in January.
  • US crude oil demand in January rose by 2.2% on the year to 19.587mbpd.
  • Gasoline demand declined by 44kbpd on the year to 8.238mbpd in January, while distillates demand edged down by 32kbpd to 3.87mbpd.
