US DATA: MNI Chicago Report™: Around 32% Report Negative Impact on Borrowing

In September, the Chicago Report™ asked firms “Have changes in financial conditions impacted your suppliers/clients?”

  • The proportion of respondents who are uncertain has increased with 47% reporting ‘Unknown at this time’ (vs 31% in June).
  • Meanwhile those reporting ‘No Impact’ fell to 16% (from 34% when asked in June), and 16% of respondents each are either experiencing difficulties with tighter credit conditions or winding down borrowing due to higher costs.
  • Finally 6% of respondents are not looking to utilize credit, down from 9% in June.
