US Gasoline Demand Slips to ~7.78mn bpd: OPIS and GasBuddy

The latest OPIS US gasoline demand survey places last weeks implied demand levels at around 7.78mn bpd, a sharp drop from the week prior and also versus historical levels.

  • The early OPIS data suggests a drop of 5.8% in the latest week versus the week prior. (The data covers half of the expected surveys so far)
  • OPIS had placed US gasoline demand around the 8mn bpd mark in the first week of January.
  • The OPIS numbers are the same as GasBuddy who also placed US gasoline demand at 7.78mn bpd last week – 6.1% lower than the week prior and 6.9% vs the four-week average compared to their prior data.
