The SF Fed has published analysis on labor force participation rate trends, coming at an interesting time with prime-age participation rates exceeding pre-pandemic levels and touching highs since 2002 but with early retirees reluctant to return to the labor force.
- "Our analysis suggests that over two-thirds of the 1%pt drop in overall LFP from 2019 to 2022 can be attributed to a decline in trend LFP, with cyclical factors explaining the rest."
