US LNG More Profitable to Asia: BNEF

LNG

US LNG exports are currently more profitable to Asia for October, November, and December, according to BNEF.

  • THE US LNG netback to Asia for September stands at $10.05/MMBtu, compared to $9.86/MMBtu for Europe. The Asian netback is down 2.2% from Aug. 16
  • November netbacks are $12/MMBtu for Asia, compared to $11.93/MMBtu for Europe, while December flows to Asia earn a netback of $13.08/MMBtu compared to $12.61/MMBtu for Europe.
  • Asian LNG prices remain elevated among strong concerns surrounding possible strike action in Australia. If industrial action takes place, it may leave Asian buyers forced to outbid Europe for volumes.
  • LNG exports from the three facilities threatening strike action accounted for 25% of Japanese imports from Jan-July.
