US Production Gradually Higher on Rig Count Increase

US natural gas producers are operating more drilling rigs now compared with the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic in early 2020 according to EIA.

  • As drilling activity increases, they expect that dry natural gas production will rise. EIA STEO estimates that dry natural gas production averaged 96.4bcf/d in Jul 2022 and will gradually increase to average 100.3bcf/d in Dec 2023.
  • The Baker Hughes gas rig count data has shown a slowdown in recent weeks with gas rigs between 157 and 161 for five weeks. The updated rig count data is due for release at 13:00 ET today.
