US Refined Products Demand Fell 1mbpd Below 2015-19 Average

Demand across the big-three refined products – gasoline, distillates and jet fuel – plunged for a second-straight week on a four-week average basis, EIA data showed.

  • Combined demand for the fuels fell by 1.84mbpd last week as of 14 July and has now slumped to nearly 1mbpd below the 2015-19 average for the first time since January and sits just 1% above 2022 levels, despite the much more favorable pricing environment for consumers.
  • Distillates demand fell for an eighth consecutive week to the lowest seasonal level since 2009.
