US Sanctions Due Today - Scope Uncertain; Germany Urges Dialogue w/Russia

  • US sanctions for the Navalny issue are expected today and may encompass issues such as the SolarWinds hack and other human rights abuse issues.
    • Markets are uncertain of the scope of sanctions at this juncture.
  • UN experts urge global probe of Navalny poisoning and demand his immediate release from penal colony. They believe his poisoning was to send a deliberate and clear message to anyone opposing Govt, and have called for a full inquiry.
    • Also note the Kremlin will be responsible for any harm that comes to him while in penal colony
