US: VP Harris To Deliver Remarks To Commemorate Hamas Attack On Israel Shortly

US Vice President Kamala Harris is shortly due to deliver remarks to commemorate the one-year anniversary of Hamas' attack on Israel. LIVESTREAM

  • Harris is expected to use the remarks to reaffirm her commitment to Israel’s security and preventing another incident like last year’s attacks. Harris will say in an interview with '60 Minutes' this evening: "I think that it is without any question, our imperative to do what we can to allow Israel to defend itself against those kinds of attacks,” referring to Hamas, Hezbollah, and Iran.
  • Harris said in a statement today: “It is far past time for a hostage and ceasefire deal to end the suffering of innocent people... We also continue to believe that a diplomatic solution across the Israel-Lebanon border region is the only path to restore lasting calm...”
  • Former President Donald Trump will participate in a remembrance event in Miami at 18:00 ET 23:00 BST. Trump’s campaign said the former president will “remember the victims of antisemitic violence that has continued to afflict communities worldwide since that tragic day.”
  • Forbes notes that a Trump campaign statement, “indicates Trump will attack both Biden and Harris for their handling of the situation, and blame their policies for enabling “Iranian-backed proxies” and compromising the “security of our country.””
