DOLLAR-CANADA
DOLLAR-CANADA: USD/CAD added 25 pips overnight and last deals at C$1.3234, off
of the intraday high at C$1.3243, as CAD sits at the bottom of the G10 currency
table, pressured by a downtick in oil prices. The move comes in the wake of
yesterday's BoC MonPol decision, whereby the BoC left its rate unch. and
repeated its commitment to hiking rates to neutral, but added the phrase "over
time".
- The C$1.3252 level, which represents the cloud top, provides initial
resistance and a break above would open up yesterday's peak at C$1.3280.
Conversely, bears target the 100-DMA at C$1.3180, where the pair bottomed
yesterday, before challenging the 61.8% fibo retracement of the move from
C$1.2783 to C$1.3665 at C$1.3120.
- Canadian focus turns to domestic building permits due later today.
