DOLLAR-CANADA
DOLLAR-CANADA: USD/CAD last trades at C$1.3281, 18 pips lower on the day, as CAD
outperforms all of its G10 peers, likely aided by touted CAD/JPY buying. Worth
mentioning that PM Trudeau said he & U.S. Pres Trump will seek the release of
Canadian citizens detained in China.
- The rate's bearish reversal continues and initial downside focus falls on the
nearby 2.0% 10-DMA envelope at C$1.3273 (already briefly breached today). The
next layer of support below is located at C$1.3176, which represents the
100-DMA. Conversely, bulls need a break above the 50-DMA at C$1.3337 before
challenging yesterday's peak at C$1.3391.
- The BoC is set to deliver its MonPol decision Wednesday, with no change to the
policy rate expected. Elsewhere, Canadian housing starts data is also due
Wednesday, while building permits come out Thursday.
