USD/JPY Dips Sub 144.00 Before Stabilizing, Yen Crosses Lower

USD/JPY dipped to fresh week to date lows of 143.93, but has now stabilized somewhat. The pair was last 144.05/10, still +0.40% firmer in yen terms versus NY closing levels form Wednesday. The fresh round of yen strength appeared to coincide with further US equity futures weakness, with Nasdaq futures slipping 0.60%, although we are away from lows now (last -0.50%).

  • We have also seen yen outperformance on crosses. AUD/JPY slipped to 95.60, against session highs of 96.31. Indeed, yen is the only G10 currency higher against the USD for Thursday's session to date.
